What I Do Have I Give To You

Reference:  Acts 3:1-10

[Act 3:6 ESV] 6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

Have you ever heard Acts 3:6 used to promote the idea that the apostles were poor or broke?  To support the opinion that God is not interested in you being financially blessed?  It is inevitable that this scripture will be used in a conversation to distort God’s will for the believer when it comes to money.  It is an erroneous belief system propagated by the gates of hell.  As my friend Carl would say, “If poverty is such a blessing, why isn’t anyone running after it?  Not even those who preach against prosperity”.  I don’t intend to stir up a debate on “prosperity gospel” versus “vow to poverty gospel”.  Rather, I want to calibrate our attention to the truth that Peter knew and demonstrated. Comment To Blog Post, “From Caution To Clarity”

Yesterday I was asked by my wife to check out an article from the Huffington Post titled, The False Promise of the Prosperity Gospel: Why I Called Out Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer by Pastor Rick.  Though I don’t follow of Joel Osteen or Joyce Meyer, I was disturbed by much of the Pastor Rick’s views presented in the article.

In order to get a better understanding of Rick’s views, I visited his blog, Churchismessy.com.  I read the post, “From Caution To Clarity” and I couldn’t take it anymore.  I was more appalled by the support of some of the commenters.  I felt it necessary to leave a comment.  In order to properly respond to this article and not drive anyone crazy in scrolling down another lengthy comment, I have decided to post my comment here.  Pastor Rick, I hope you have the time to read this.  I appreciate your openness and am okay if you are unable to agree with my comments below.  However, some things just need to be said. The Wonder Of Worship

Every morning my wife and I start our day in prayer to the Lord.  We don’t have an established routine, because God is living and anyone who’s alive knows that no day is the same.  To define our prayer time, it is a composition of praise, worship, petition, singing, meditation, scripture reading, scripture quoting, thanksgiving, reviewing of testimonies and prophecies, and so much more. It Is The Year Of Testimony

The word received in prayer this morning is that we have entered into a year of testimonies.  There are going to be many many testimonies that will spring up in this year.  It is a season of testimonies.  I saw it in a vision like a sports stadium.  It was 100,000 plus fans doing the wave.  It kept circling around the stadium as the fans in each consecutive section would leap to their feet in a cheer and sit back down.  That was the vision of the testimonies in this season.  It will spring up in one region, then another, then another.  From one person, to another, then another.  It will be heard out of the mouths of those who have never uttered a word, people who have been mute concerning the goodness of God.  Their testimony will rise up and create an excitement and a desire for others to want in. The sound of their testimony will be contagious.

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. – Isaiah 43:18-19
